Battlefield 4 was released back in 2013, two years after the release of Battlefield 3; both of them are pretty fun to play but there are a few similarities between the two of them than can warrant questioning if it’s worth upgrading. 😏
Battlefield 4 is not just about the online multiplayer but this is probably one of it’s most popular features; the online multiplayer combines frantic infantry fighting with vehicular warfare for intense battles which are also diverse. The Online mode has a variety of game modes including previous modes from BF3 and also the new Obliteration Mode; it’s a team based mode where two teams fight to control a bomb which is needed to blow up three enemy positions. It’s great fun and uses both infantry and vehicles as teams scramble for the bomb.
The new test range is really handy for online play; now players can test and learn vehicles without needing to be in a game. Perfect for learning how to pilot a helicopter or how to drive a naval vehicle which could provide your team with that edge they need to win.
The single player Campaign Mode is nothing too special and can feel very similar to the BF3 campaign; especially as the most of the graphics are either the same or look extremely similar. There’s even a few locations in BF4 that resemble locations in BF3. The plot is not too detailed and the characters are not very strong; most player’s don’t buy battlefield for the campaign however so it’s not the end of the world.
Battlefield 4 saw lots of improvements but there’s also a large portion of fans who prefer Battlefield 3 and believe it to be the better game; there are some issues BF4 has which can subtract from the player experience such as the less innovative maps and the bad spawning in online games; the maps may be more realistic but it’s just not as fun especially when compared to the maps in BF3.
Battlefield 4 is a fun game in it’s own right, especially the online mode but it does have its problems sadly. It can be pretty similar to Battlefield 3 sometimes especially with the gameplay and some of the locations. Battlefield 4 has seen many improvements since it was released, especially to the core gameplay to improve the player experience in online mode. The improvements have made it a much better game overall especially for playing online.
